Heartstart at Red Seal

Joe and Malcolm kindly ran a Heartstart course for five members of Red Seal Rescue on 11th April, with the help of Rookie Instructor George Redfern-Lown.  Red Seal provide safety cover for a number of local events, and currently have a full active membership.

The Heartstart course involves several elements of Emergency Life Support, including CPR, choking and bleeding.  NSVL have ran a number of Heartstart courses both for club members and for external organisations such as Red Seal.  As a result of questions following the completion of the Heartstart session, Joe and Malcolm went through an in depth presentation on drowning, effects of heat and cold and marine injuries.  The candidates from Red Seal found this information very useful, as it is relevant to the training and rescue duties that they perform.

More information on the Heartstart scheme can be found on the British Heart Foundation website.  If you are interested in attending a Heartstart workshop or arranging a course for your club or organisation, please contact our Chairman, Joe Welsh at This email address is being protected from spambots. Thanks to Joe, Malcolm and George for delivering the course, and we look forward to working with Red Seal again soon.
