AGM Report 2013

The Annual General Meeting was held on Sunday 2nd November at the NSVL Beach Base.  Both adult and junior members attended to find out what the club has achieved over the last year.  This was followed by the North Tyneside fireworks display and a BBQ on the promenade.

Barbara Broadbelt chaired the meeting in the absence of Joe Welsh, presenting the Annual Report and announcing the nominees for trustee positions.  Karen Farr presented the club accounts, which were externally audited, and answered questions based on the information.  Thanks to Barbara and Karen for your input.

The Annual Report was extremely detailed and included reports from each committee member, as well as a reflection on how the club has achieved its charitable aims and objectives.  If you would like a copy of the Annual Report email This email address is being protected from spambots. We are thrilled to welcome some new faces to the NSVL executive committee.  The positions which were elected and co-opted last night are as follows:

Vice Chair - Louis Wallace
Louis has been a member of the club since 2007, when he completed his Beach Lifeguard course.  He has volunteered as a Rookie Instructor and Lifeguard over the years, and has taken part in regular training himself.  Over the past year he has held the trustee position of Social Secretary, organising events such as 'Bowling and a Bite' and the annual Presentation Evening.  Louis is currently working towards qualifying as a Lifesaving Instructor, leading the 'Survive and Save Bronze' class.

You can find details for the whole committee on the committee page.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank those who have volunteered on the committee for the past year.  Roly Redfern-Lown has overseen improvements to the beach base and made sure equipment is ready to use, and Fiona Freeman has been fantastic in giving parents' perspectives over the last few years.  Lewis Pearson was also Competition Secretary for part of 2012/13 and organised in club competitions for junior members.  Ashley Wilson and Liam Arrowsmith took on the role of Lifeguard Captain and organised lifeguard meetings and pool session/training rotas.  Your input has been extremely valued and we hope you will all continue to play a role in the club.

We are always looking for people to get involved, the phrase 'every little helps' seems most appropriate!  Whether you would like to take an ongoing role in the club or help with one off events such as work afternoons at the beach base, speak to any committee member to find out more.
