Billingham Forum Lifesaving Competition

Lifesavers from NSVL took part in the Billingham Forum Lifesaving Competition on Saturday 25th January.  For most of our lifesavers this was their first time at a Lifesaving competition, so it was an opportunity to have a go at something new and try their hand at speed lifesaving events including obstacle swims, manikin carries and manikin tows.

Our competitors had a great day and did brilliantly in both individual and relay events.  We even brought home an impressive 15 medals!  We had lots of support from senior members and parents on the day and all of our lifesavers came together to cheer each other on.  The competition was a great opportunity to catch up with other clubs and there was a brilliant sense of team spirit with clubs helping each other out.  Paula from NSVL joined the South Shields ladies team in the obstacle, manikin carry and medley relays, and Lincoln Volunteer Lifeguards kindly loaned us some swimmers to make up numbers for team events.

We are grateful to all our helpers, thanks to Vicky for keeping us organised on the day, Rachel and Louis for making sure our younger competitors were in the right place at the right time and Sasha and George for timekeeping.  Nick has only recently taken on the role of Competition Secretary and has organised entry and training in a short space of time, not an easy task so well done to Nick!

We're already looking forward to our next competition, if you'd like to get involved speak to Nick at the pool or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Take a look a our photo album and see what we got up to!
