Presentation Evening 2014

We held our annual Presentation Evening on Friday 23rd May to celebrate our members' achievements over the last year.  There was a great turn out, with over 80 members and their families coming along.

One of our biggest achievements this year has been taking part in competitions in Morpeth and Billingham.  Our lifesavers brought back 6 medals from Billingham, a fantastic achievement for those new to competitive lifesaving.  We hope to keep up the good work and will be entering the Regional Lifesaving Championships in July.  We also held another successful Boxing Day Swim, with 130 swimmers in the water and over £1,000 raised for club funds.  For the first time we have had Survive and Save classes at Bronze, Silver and Gold levels and are thrilled to see lifesavers passing their Core and Medallion awards.  We will be working on Beach and Stillwater strands over the summer for the first time so have more awards to look forward to.

Malcolm Dunn was pleased to present certificates for Rookies passing their Lifesaving awards and trophies to the 'most improved' in each class.  Tamiro Truemann was also presented with an NSVL hoodie.  Tamiro joined NSVL 6 months ago when he came to stay in the UK from Germany.  He will soon be returning to Germany so we hope he remembers us and wears his hoodie with pride!  Lewis Walker was also thanked for his involvement in the club and his commitment to teaching over the last year.  Lewis has progressed through the Rookie and Lifesaving programme at NSVL and is leaving the club to join the army.  We wish Lewis all the best and look forward to seeing him when he visits.

Congratulations to all of those who won awards:
