Beach session information

Thank you to those junior members who have expressed interest in the summer sessions.

The Rookie programme is planned this year by Katie, Jennifer, Taylor and Brodie who in successfully delivering the sessions, will achieve their Assistant Instructor Qualification.

Supervision will be in place, led by Malcolm Dunn (National Trainer Assessor - NTA) with the support of additional NSVL NTA members, instructors and beach lifeguards.

The Survive & Save programme is to be planned by Paula Richardson assisted and delivered by NSVL Survive & Save Instructors (with support as above).

Following planning, the revised dates/times for summer are as follows:-

Dates: Saturdays from 31st May - 19th July (note amended dates)

10.00 - 11.00 Rookie Achievement & Rookie Bronze

11.15 - 12.15 Rookie Silver & Rookie Gold

12.15 - 13.00 Break

13.00 - 14.00 Survive & Save Bronze/Silver/Gold

Please allow around 15 minutes for changing and registration before the session start time.  Parents of our junior members will be asked to remain at the beach - any difficulty with this please advise on the day, we will help where possible.

We offer the following information which new members may find useful:-

Footwear must be worn at all times
Beach shoe, wet suit boots or rock hoppers NOT flip flops. Alternatively please bring a pair of old trainers. NSVL has a limited supply of spare foot wear which can be loaned on a first come basis.

Wet Suits
Please bring your own if you have a wet suit. NSVL has a limited supply of wet suits which can be loaned on a first come basis.

Warm Clothes
Warm clothes and water proof jackets are recommended after your child comes out of the sea.

Sun screen, hats and hydration
Please consider the weather and ensure your child has taken appropriate actions to protect themselves from the sun. Please ensure they have a bottle of water. Club lifeguard hats will be supplied on loan and must be worn (for safety/recognition) in the sea.

Changing room space is limited
Any borrowed clothing must be rinsed and returned to the appropriate store rooms. We encourage our junior members to pitch in with clearing up at the end of sessions.

Dry room
Once dry and changed, members are welcome to warm up in the “dry” room. This room is carpeted - please do not go into the dry room in wet swimwear.

Hot drinks and cakes/biscuits will be available for a small donation. Please indicate on the order form if you are happy to donate a cake or biscuits at any session.

Any questions, concerns or queries please contact Julie (This email address is being protected from spambots.
