03/08/06 - Due to appalling weather and
sea conditions, the Lifeguard Competition was cancelled on Wednesday
night and postponed until next Wednesday, 9 August. Same time, same
place (From 6.30pm at Tynemouth Longsands).

- This year's annual North East Regional Beach Lifeguard Competiton
will be held on home sand at Tynemouth Longsands on the evening of
Wednesday 2 August.
NSVL
will be fielding at least one team, so we require volunteers from our
lifeguards to take part. Entry is for qualified Beach Lifeguards only - open water awards will not be accepted. If anyone is interested in being in a team then please see Dave Bedford.
The
competition is meant to be a fun event, so no one should feel that they
aren't up to it! Events include rope throwing, torpedo buoy rescues and
the traditional 'Beach Flags' game.
There
will be plenty of time to practise all events in the run up to the
competition, indeed those who have been down to the beach over the past
few weeks may have played Beach Flags already.
Registration
for teams will be from 6pm, and the competition will start as soon as
all teams arrive (some teams will be travelling from Hartlepool, Redcar
and Cleveland).
Cafe
C at the beach will be open for the event and all members and Rookies
are welcome to come along and support NSVL in this fun event.
