In order to to meet with legal requirements of training for pool
lifeguards (i.e. 2 hours per month) the following training programme
has been arranged to cover all skill and knowledge areas.
Pool
Lifeguards are expected to attend at least one hour of dry side and one
hour of wet side training per month (two sessions of each are available
each month, with swim coaching available on the alternate weeks). Beach
Lifeguards can participate in both dry and wet training if they wish
and beach lifeguard training records can be signed.
Staff
training signed off by Pool TAs at your workplace can count towards
your required hours, but must encompass all of the skills laid out in
the programme and must be brought in and recorded on the NSVL Training
Record. Personal training records can also be signed so that employers
can add NSVL training to their records.
Pool Lifeguards who do not maintain their training will not be permitted to act as lifeguards for NSVL.
