We always welcome qualified lifeguards into the club, wherever you initially completed your training.
You must undertake regular training throughout the 2-year validity of your qualification (HSE recommends that this includes at least 1 hour CPR training per month).
NSVL qualified trainers are always available to supervise training, log hours and arrange renewal assessments. Logged training will look good if you apply for jobs and is essential for you to renew your qualification.
There is a formal ongoing training programme to cover all the appropriate skills, but it's also meant to be fun.
It's a chance to meet other lifeguards in a friendly environment, and also join in with the social activities.
You will also get the opportunity to gain additional qualifiations - maybe you would like to become a beach lifeguard?
Pool Lifeguard training takes place at Tynemouth Pool from 6.30-7.30pm on Saturday evenings. Check the Upcoming tab above to see the latest sessions information.
Pool entry for this session is £2, however if you come at 5.30pm and lifeguard our Rookies session then your pool entry and training is free.
You can come along for 2 weeks without obligation, and after the first two weeks if you decide to continue you must become a member of NSVL for insurance purposes. Current membership rates are £15 per year for senior members.
Pool Lifeguards are also welcome to come down to our Beach Headquarters earlier on Saturdayday afternoons where additional dry-side training can take place and you can get more involved with club activities.
For more information on trainng dates click on a session in the 'Upcoming' panel at the top of the page.
