Ernie and Rolande present the cheque to NSVL Chairman Joe Welsh NSVL has received vital funds to go towards our new rescue boat appeal thanks to Ernie and Rolande Nolan of Segedunum Computer Systems on High Street East in Wallsend.
Ernie and Rolande donated a
giant Easter egg and ran a raffle to help raise funds for NSVL. Ernie said “a total of £236.00 was raised,
which wasn’t bad for the short space of time we had and we thank everybody that
supported the appeal."
The winner of the 4.5kg egg was a Mrs Hudson, who plans to donate the egg to a children’s hospice.
However, the fundraising does not stop there. Ernie and Rolande have lots of other plans to raise money for the appeal, so watch this space!

After a relatively storm-free winter leaving Whitley Bay beach with the highest sand levels seen for a number of years, it took just one March storm to obliterate the entire beach.
Down to bedrock at the mid-tide level of the beach, the top of the beach against the promenade did not fair any better, losing a depth of about 1.5m of sand. This was most obvious from our new ramp, built when the sand level was very high, but which now only just reaches the beach...and it's a long way to walk up from the bottom compared to walking on from the side at the top!

There was a theft from the changing rooms on Sunday night where three members had wallets and mobile phones stolen after leaving them unlocked in the changing cubicles.
Although we are the only people in the building after 5pm, it seems that the thief got into the building at the disabled entrance or had stayed in the building after the public session.
For everyone's safety, can we ensure the following:
- Do not let anyone you don't know in at the bottom entrance
- If you see anyone you don't know wandering around the building please inform Maureen at the tuck shop so that the person can be challenged
- DO NOT LEAVE PERSONAL BELONGINGS IN CHANGING CUBICLES. All personal property (especially expensive items such as mobile phones, MP3 players and wallets) should be locked in the lockers provided or left with a parent/responsible person on poolside.
This is an unfortunate incident, but by following the advice above we can hopefully avoid any further incidents in the future.
